5 Ways to Celebrate National Wellness Month

August is National Wellness Month – Let’s Celebrate Whole-Person Health in Texas

August is National Wellness Month, and it’s the perfect time to reflect on how we care for our minds, bodies, and communities. While wellness is a year-round priority, this month encourages all of us—individuals, organizations, and communities—to pause, refocus, and take intentional steps toward healthier living.

At Healthier Texas, we believe wellness is more than just physical health. It’s about creating supportive environments where every Texan has the opportunity to thrive—physically, mentally, socially, and emotionally.

What is National Wellness Month?

Observed every August, National Wellness Month is a nationwide initiative that promotes self-care, healthy routines, stress management, and community well-being. Whether it’s staying active, drinking more water, setting better boundaries, or simply checking in with yourself, small steps can lead to lasting change.

This month is also an opportunity to highlight programs and partnerships that work behind the scenes to support wellness where Texans live, learn, work, and play.

How Healthier Texas Supports Wellness—All Year Long

From community-based programs to statewide events, Healthier Texas is committed to building a healthier future for every Texan. Here’s how we’re showing up for wellness:

Evidence-Based Programming

Programs like Walk With Ease, Stay Strong, Stay Healthy, and Cooking Matters make wellness accessible and practical for communities across the state. These resources help Texans move more, eat well, and manage stress—meeting people where they are.

Community Health Partnerships

Our collaborations with educators, community health workers, nonprofits, and government partners ensure that wellness programming reaches rural towns, urban neighborhoods, and everywhere in between.

Healthier Texas Summit – October 2–3, 2025

Wellness isn’t just personal, it’s collective. That’s why we’re bringing public health leaders, researchers, and community advocates together at the 2025 Healthier Texas Summit in Austin. This two-day event will spotlight innovative approaches to health accessibility, systems change, and whole-person wellness.
