How to Have a Happy & Healthy Halloween

Halloween is filled with costumes, trick-or-treating, and of endless amounts of candy. Unfortunately, over the years, a few pieces of candy have increased to eating hundreds in only one night. With this in mind, it is our mission to help you make this Halloween the healthiest one yet.

Costume parades are a fun way to bring together the community and keep your kids moving throughout the day. Walk around the block a few times with the kids to show off their costumes to friends and family. The kids can also help decorate the house with carved pumpkins, spider webs, and arts and crafts they create during the day. Some of our favorite arts and crafts include:

Another trick to prevent your kids from eating too many sweets is to keep them satisfied with healthy snacks. Here are some treats that are both healthy and haunting.

Instead of passing out candy, you can encourage everyone in the community to pass out healthy snacks like pumpkin seeds and raisins. Or, you can use Halloween-themed school supplies like pencils, erasers, spider rings, stickers, vampire teeth, and other dollar store favorites.

One final tip: Make sure the candy is in your sight, so you can keep track of how much everyone is eating. It’s important to keep health top of mind on this festive day, this way you’ll be sure to have a happy and healthy Halloween!
